Poyang Lake, China's largest freshwater lake nearly dried up

中国最大的淡水湖鄱阳湖将近干枯。Cracks are seen on the dried riverbed of Poyang lake, China's largest freshwater lake, in Duchang county in East China's Jiangxi province, on Jan 3, 2012. The surface water of the lake has shrunk to less than 200 square kilometers, one-twentieth of its peak level, due to water shortages in the upper reaches of the Yangtze river.
