Wu, who is in her 70s, has been taking care of volunteer teachers for more than 30 years. Due to the poor living conditions in the village, many teachers are not willing to stay long-term. To keep the teachers around for local students, Wu began taking care of them by cooking meals, washing clothes, making medicines for the sick and inviting them to live in her house.
